Alexander County 4-H

It is vital that we begin training our youth today to begin their role as the citizen leaders of tomorrow. It is for this reason that Alexander County 4-H has worked with nineteen youth ages 13-19 in a 4-H Junior leadership development program.
Over the past year, these youth have diligently labored to attend training sessions, complete community service hours, and develop programs/lesson plans for other youth. These youth have contributed a total of 790 hours of service within the Alexander County community, West Central Extension District and North Carolina 4-H. They have taught over 32 classes for other youth and assisted as junior 4-H leaders for twelve 4-H Summer Day Camps and eight 4-H Special Interest Workshops.
With results like these, it is easy to understand why we plan to continue this program for years to come. Parents of the teen 4-H leaders reported noticing a 32% increase in leadership positions in church, school and community activities due to their involvement in 4-H Leadership activities.
